Major Golf Course Bunker Renovation / Improvement Project

The club's current course architect / consultant agreed on Tuesday 29 October to set up a bunker plan designed by Ken Carnary to use Fusion Golf Construction as a contractor. The team has been responsible for improving short game zones, long game warm-up ranges, the new 8th green at Edendry and the bunkers in the 6th hole in Drumbridge Nine.

Bunkers have been a major weakness of our great golf course for a long time. The number of complaints from members about our bunker is constantly increasing. There is no balance in the amount and quantity of sand in each bunker. Lack of drainage greatly increases the time required for bunkers to be able to play and build poorly resulting in a lack of maintenance and overall playability. In addition, we have some bunkers that carry health and safety precautions because it is difficult to enter and exit. Until the end, we have certain bunkers that are mostly useless, some add nothing to the hole technique or enjoyment.

Why Carney can be the top advisor to the Irish Islands - the breadth of his work can be found on his website. His work in Malone and the courses that council members have visited, including Ardglass, Dandalk and others, have made it clear to the council that we are the right people. His bunker audit document can be found below - a hard copy will also be provided at the office. In many cases, the presence of a general restructuring of the existing setup is present, but on closer examination you will notice that some subtle changes in the position of the bunkers can bring about the necessary changes in the strategy. Of course there will be a significant increase in the ability to play and enjoy.

DR Golf’s website provides evidence of body size and the quality of their work. It was the pace and pace of work in the city of Malone that convinced the council that we have one more important player on the team. DAR was the most competitive tender for the work just completed and they agreed to maintain these prices as well as to give priority to MGC for this project.

Council members noted that DR Golf and our own greenkeeping team have worked together to achieve the highest quality at the best cost of the final project. This cooperation will be maintained in the bunker reconstruction program and significant savings will be made for MGC. DAR Golf has also guaranteed its bunker work in Malone for ten years.

The total cost of the project will be 200,000 areas. Each component of the overall value is cast individually on the basis of a measurement. The club will finance this development from some limited reserves, revenue income and general capital budget. Once the work is completed within one to two calendar years, the optimal financing conditions for project financing are discussed in three fiscal years. We will not need to pay additional charges or increase our annual subscription outside of inflation.

The project is expected to end at two ends. Work has begun on the front nine, with the golf course bunker renovation starting in January and ready to play in late April with weather permitting. If the Winter League is played in the back nine, the DR will be given the freedom to continue uninterrupted and finish ahead of schedule. The second place of work will start in October 2020 and will end on time in the new competitive season.

In short, we now have all the necessary elements to successfully complete this important project, we have the financial arrangements and a proven set of experts working with enthusiastic teams from MGC. This big project will improve the playing skills of the course and therefore will be enjoyed by the members of the next generation. Our goal of becoming one of the leading Parkland courses in Ireland will be further strengthened by maintaining our reputation for financial management.
